Inclusive Schools and Community Services (ISCS), the Iranian/Afghan Educator Alliance (IAEA), and the OPC Persian/Iranian Admins Affinity Group will host Persian Heritage Month Events in March 2026. 

This year’s gatherings will feature cultural activities, student performances, light refreshments and an opportunity for students, families and staff to connect while acknowledging and honoring the rich history, culture and contributions of the Persian community.

Persian Heritage Month Events

  • March 24, 2026, 5:00-7:00 p.m., YRDSB Education Support Centre, 39 Dunning Ave., Aurora
  • March 30, 2026, 5:30-7:30 p.m.,  Meadowbrook P.S., 233 Patterson St, Newmarket

To ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, attendance will be capped. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and will be closed once we reach capacity. Please register by March 20, 2026.

Student Opportunities (Performers & Volunteers)

YRDSB students are invited to sign up to showcase talents in music, dance, poetry, or cultural presentations. 

Students are also invited to volunteer and earn community involvement hours. Please sign up by March 10, 2026.

  • Clothing Swap - Bring an item, take an item. Explore comfortable, affirming clothing in a welcoming space.
  • Community Resources - Connect with local organizations that support queer and trans youth and their families.
  • Art & Activities - Express yourself through creative stations and engage in queer and trans trivia.
  • YorkU Media Activations -  Participants will have the opportunity to use York University’s Makerspace, gaming lounge, and green-screen media room.
  • Food - Enjoy light refreshments
  • Connection - Build relationships with peers and families who share similar identities and experiences.

Understanding and Navigating the Education System - Families of YRDSB Black Students Monthly Virtual Information Session on Monday, March 9, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Families, parents, and caregivers, please join us for our monthly virtual meeting, where families with Black children come together to learn about resources and upcoming programs for Black students in both elementary and secondary schools. Please see our flyer for more information and the registration link.

The YRDSB is thrilled to invite students and families to meet with the Accessibility Offices of 16 Post Secondary Institutions and the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC). Speak with representatives about accommodations, accessibility, transition planning, and the best ways to access services.

This event is designed for students with disabilities and/or IEPs, however, please share the details with any student who may be interested.

  • Special Presentation: The Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC) will present on "Accessing Support in Post-Secondary: How Accessibility Services Help You Succeed".
  • Participating Institutions: Attendees can meet with representatives from Centennial, Durham, George Brown, Georgian, Guelph, Guelph-Humber, Humber, Laurier, McMaster, Seneca, Skilled Trades Ontario, TMU, UofT, Waterloo, Western, and York.
