A World-Class Education

Did you know that Ontario and Canada continue to be recognized as top performers in education around the world?

With graduation rates and test scores in reading, writing and math well above provincial averages, YRDSB is one of the top-performing school boards in the province.

All YRDSB secondary schools offer:

Academic Excellence

Students benefit from strong teaching and high academic standards.

Graduation rates and results in reading, writing and math are consistently above provincial averages.

Educators help ensure students build solid skills in literacy and numeracy while also developing critical thinking, communication and problem‑solving skills that set them up for success now and in the future.

Curriculum documents identify what students must know and be able to do at the end of every grade or course in every subject in Ontario publicly funded schools.

Innovative Programs and Partnerships

Students have many opportunities to explore interests and develop real‑world skills through courses, clubs and specialized programs.

  • Students select their courses each February for the following year. Choose from a range that includes Arts, business, STEM, skilled trades and more. Learn more about course selection.
  • Secondary schools offer a wide range of athletics and clubs. Through these opportunities, students build leadership, collaboration and problem-solving skills while gaining practical experience and building a connection to the school.

Through partnerships with local businesses, community organizations and post‑secondary institutions, students may have opportunities in later grades to:
