Exam season is here! Please note the following:

  • Start Time: All exams begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
  • Alternate Locations: Students with accommodations may be writing in locations communicated by their SERT.
  • Schedule: Only grade 12s have exams on June 15 and 16. Grades 9-11 will have regularly scheduled classes.
  • Attendance June 17–23: Students are only required to come to school if they are writing an exam or have a scheduled appointment with a teacher.

Understanding and Navigating the Education System - Families of YRDSB Black Students Monthly Virtual Information Session on Monday, June 15, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Families, parents, and caregivers, please join us for our monthly virtual meeting, where families with Black children come together to learn about resources and upcoming programs for Black students in both elementary and secondary schools.  Please see our flyer for more information and the registration link.

Centre for Black Student Excellence - Understanding and Navigating the Education System Monthly Virtual Information Session

The Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA), alongside community partners across York Region, invites Black community members to attend a two-part community gathering centred around the Black Mental Health Community Insights report developed through conversations held across York Region last year.

These gatherings are an opportunity to reflect on key insights from the report, hear from mental health professionals and community voices, engage in meaningful dialogue and help shape what comes next for Black mental health and wellness support within our communities.

Each session will include:

  • A moderated panel discussion
  • Community dialogue and opportunities for feedback
  • Food and refreshments
  • Connection in a welcoming, community-centred space

York Region District School Board is inviting parents, caregivers and family members to consider applying for membership on the Board’s Parent, Family and Community Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC). PEAC offers families a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives and supports family engagement at the Board level in order to improve student achievement and well-being. Applications are due June 17, 2026. Interested parent and family applicants are invited to learn more about the role of PEAC, eligibility and how to apply by visiting the Parent, Family and Community Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC) webpage. 

 

YRDSB Accepting Applications for Board Committees - Deadline Extended for PEAC Applications

York Region District School Board is accepting applications for membership on two advisory committees that provide important family and community perspectives at the Board level. 

Parent, Family and Community Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC)

Parents, caregivers and family members are invited to apply for membership on PEAC. The committee offers families a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives and support family engagement at the Board level to improve student achievement and well-being.

Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Committee (EIAC)

Applications due June 15, 2026.

Family and community members can apply for one of eight positions on EIAC. The committee supports YRDSB’s commitment to providing equitable and inclusive learning and working environments in all schools and workplaces of the Board.

The York Region District School Board invites community members to apply for a position on the Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Committee (EIAC). There are eight (8) community member positions available.

The Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Committee (EIAC) is an advisory committee which supports the York Region District School Board in its commitment to providing equitable and inclusive learning and working environments in all schools and workplaces of the Board. EIAC provides advice regarding the implementation of the Board’s Equity and Inclusivity Strategy, policies and procedures and helps ensure that the Board addresses all dimensions of diversity. The dimensions of diversity include, but are not limited to ancestry, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, language, physical and intellectual ability, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.

The committee shall meet at least six​ times annually. Members are expected to attend each meeting. 

EIAC meetings are typically held virtually on a Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Members are expected to attend six meetings annually and may also have opportunities to participate in sub-committees, workshops, and related events.

The current term of office will commence November 15, 2026 and end on November 14, 2030. Meeting dates to be confirmed.

The committee is composed of trustee members, community members, community representatives, staff support, student voice, and staff resources.

The selection committee shall ensure community members support all elements of diversity from within York Region. Two references are required.
