Black students and their families are invited to attend a virtual edition of the BFCN Scholarship Application Workshop on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

This is a free workshop designed to guide Black students and their families on how to search, prepare, and apply for scholarships and bursaries.

Pathway Planning and High School Course Selection Workshop Part 2

Families, parents, and caregivers are invited to join us for this Supporting East Asian Students (SEAS) Family Engagement evening to deepen their understanding of pathway planning and the course selection process in the Ontario Education System. 

YRDSB Teachers and Guidance Counsellors will be delivering information focused on:

  • Understanding the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements
  • Exploring pathways and planning for post-secondary opportunities
  • Navigating the high school course selection process in YRDSB

Date: Thursday, February 5th, 2026 

Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm 

Location: Unionville High School, 201 Town Centre Blvd, Unionville, ON L3R 8G5 

The workshop session will be in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

YRDSB is once again working with Renewed Computer Technology to provide limited income families with access to technology. Applications are open until February 27, 2026.

Dear Families, 

As part of a partnership between YRDSB and Renewed Computer Technology (RCT), families with children enrolled in our Board have the opportunity to purchase quality refurbished computers at a reduced cost. Applicants must live in Ontario, have a student enrolled at YRDSB and either receive government assistance payments or qualify as a limited income earner under the limited income cut-off standards*.

This year, there are different packages available for purchase. Please reference the online application page for the current available package offerings. Please note that there are three options for delivery.

  1. If you would like for the computer to be delivered directly to your home, there is RCT OTR Order Form a $25 charge for laptops and a $35 charge for desktops. Families who choose this delivery option will have their order shipped when it is ready, roughly 3 weeks from date of order.
  2. If you would like the device shipped to your child’s school there is a $20 delivery charge. If you choose this shipping option, the computer will be delivered to your child's school in March after the end of the promotion period. Please indicate the name of the school on the form when selecting this option.
  3. You may choose to pick up the computer from the RCT Mississauga Warehouse, for free, located at 945 Meyerside Drive, Mississauga. Families who choose this option will have their order ready for pick up roughly 3 weeks after the date of order.

Parents and legal guardians may apply for one computer per student, with a limit of two per household. Please see below for a full list of device specifications.

Please note - There are sections in the RCT Online Application that are no longer applicable:

  • Requirement of Proof or Documentation of Income
  • Requirement to participate in training prior to receiving your computer/laptop 

The Section on Course of Study can pertain to elementary or secondary. If you do not have access to a computer or the Internet, please contact the administration team at your school for assistance.

  • resources to address specific forms of racism, including anti-Black racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Indigenous racism and to foster inclusive, affirming, and respectful learning environments; and
  • high-impact instructional practices to support student improvement in alignment with the curriculum.

Topics: De-escalation Strategies and Improvement Planning

Description:

School teams will engage in learning focused on:

  • de-escalation strategies, including categorization of behaviours, identification of responses, preventative strategies, use of verbal and non-verbal communication, and internal and external factors that may contribute to behaviour escalation; and
  • high-impact instructional practices to support student improvement.

Students in Grades 8 and secondary school select courses in February for the next school year. There are lots of course and program options available at all YRDSB secondary schools that let students explore their interests, build transferable skills and gain valuable experience. Learn more about secondary programs and courses or search for options based on your interests. Students will receive more information about how to select courses soon!
