The Drama Department at BHSS strives to empower students to see the world through the lens of possibility. Students explore the idea that, through a shared commitment to discovering new possibilities within ourselves, our community, and our world, we can create a new reality. To achieve this, students investigate topics and issues relevant to them and, by crafting and performing a variety of dramatic works, present solutions, raise awareness, and foster empathy. Additionally, students trace the impact of theatre by examining its benefits to individuals, groups, and communities both past and present.
Through the exploration of acting, mime, movement, improvisation, play-study, playwriting, puppetry, voice acting, filmmaking—and much more—students gain exposure to a wide range of theatrical knowledge.
Students also develop skills that serve them well beyond the drama classroom. For example, they not only acquire specialized skills essential to theatrical performance and production but also cultivate abilities inherent to strong leadership and academic success—such as literacy, communication, critical decision-making, adaptability, collaboration, problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking, among others.
In addition to drama courses, our department offers dance courses. Through these classes, students gain exposure to many dance styles, including contemporary, hip hop, Indian classical, line dancing, salsa, ballet, and many more. Students learn about the elements of dance and composition, and reflect on how dance studies affirm and celebrate personal identity and culture. In these highly collaborative courses, students work closely with their peers to expand their technique and develop artistic scope in the art of dance. Additionally, they learn how to maintain their wellbeing to fully engage with the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of dance.
Both the theatre and the dance studio are modelled after professional spaces, enabling students to push the boundaries of creation and production.  All Drama classes are held in our state-of-the-art theatre, and all Dance courses take place in our state-of-the-art dance studio, a key part of the highly immersive experience.
Our program welcomes all interested students; no prior experience or audition is necessary.

Co-Curricular / Additional Opportunities
Beyond the classroom, students in the Drama program have many opportunities to get involved as performers, directors, stage managers, writers, producers, designers, and technicians. For example, they can join the ‘BHSS Stage Crew’ or the ‘Drama & Film Studio Club’ to participate in school events like Haunted House and co-curricular activities such as Artissimo!, our annual arts showcase.
